Today's My Favorite!

There's nothing quite like getting rid of stuff. I love to clean, organize, and declutter! If my house is a mess or has lots of stuff I feel like a mess. John & I are kinda minimalists at heart. We don't like to own a lot of "stuff." So today, my husband spoke straight to my heart & helped me load the car packed with stuff to give away to Goodwill. We gave away SO MUCH! AND IT FELT AWESOME! Life is too short to spend it wanting more, more, and more or to spend it moving stuff that you never ever use or need. We then put our mattress on the floor, rearranged, & reorganized our room. It feels so cozy now! Loving life today!

Also, if you need a little inspiration. Francine Jay's "Miss Minimalist: Inspiration to Downsize, Declutter, and Simplify " is only .99 on Amazon for the Kindle. :)

Gasconade River Camping

John & I finally got to take a little trip away and go camping. We went to the Gasconade River, which neither of us had been to. It was pretty! Here's some pictures to show how it went!

Those are trees bent over & completely uprooted from flooding. It's crazy to see the damage that flooding can cause! It also covered the whole area with rocks just like a Missouri river bed.

My pretty shells I found. :)

Helga's first time playing in the water. We found out the scary way that she can swim!

Helga & I sitting on the beach.

John looking good in his cowboy hat!

Kisses!

We had yummy corn as a snack.

Helga looooved camping!!

My awesome fire pit I made!

Our delicious hobo dinners!

And lastly, a video of Helga playing in the water.

Unexpected Romance

I love that my husband & I both believe in taking time to work on our marriage, especially when it means having a romantic dinner. We were deciding what to make for dinner & John decided to have an impromptu romantic dinner. What a good husband! So we broke out some champagne, lit some candles, turned on some Sinatra, and made our own little romantic restaurant. I love being spontaneous!

Great Start to a Four Day!

John got a four day weekend & it's already been great! We had a date night last night. We went to dinner, got ice cream, and then home to watch Willow and relax. Helga & I even painted our nails! It was really nice to have some quality time! Today we got up & went shooting. I've been shooting before, but never target shooting. I apparently did really good! I shot consistently center mass & even hit the 5 in the middle within my first couple rounds. It was really fun! We went out in the country to find a spot to shoot & find a few Missouri gems. Although I hate it a lot sometimes, it really is a gorgeous state in parts. When it's foggy it even looks like Jurassic Park in certain areas. Now we're home to start cleaning out & packing up the house. This deployment just creeps up faster and faster!

Matching pink nails!

The butterflies kept landing on Helga!

Here's three of Missouri's gems that we found:

I'm excited to see what the rest of the weekend has for us!

Sister Visit!

I had my first visitors from home! (Other than my parents who helped us move in) It was my sisters and I loved having them here!

I got this awesome Hufflepuff decal for my computer for my birthday!

I also made this awesome dinosaur!

Now to the job situation. I decided not to pursue the job at Blockbuster because I'd much rather move home while John is deployed. I also don't want the last few months together to be with both of us working, I like being home every minute he is. We don't get much time together, so I'd like to make the most of what we have!

Job Interview

I have a job interview at Blockbuster today. It's the only place that I've seen in the 9 months of visiting/ living here that I would want to work at, so I would really like the job! I'm so nervous!! I'm nervous for several reasons. The first is simply going through the interview process, which is always a little scary. The second is that if I get this job I may not move when John deploys, which opens up a whole new world of big decisions to make within a short period of time. The third is the thought that I just might not get the job. Back home I don't have one firm job, I just work at the Book Rack when needed (which is getting more and more rare), substitute teach when needed, and answer phones when needed. Staying here would provide a job that is somewhat more stable than working three occasional jobs. I realize that there's always the possibility of getting fired or that Blockbuster could go under, but nothing is permanent in this world except God & if He wants me to have this job then I will have it. My prayer today is that I either get the job and God knows what He's doing or that I don't get the job with the security that He has other plans for me!

EDIT: Job interview went super good! It only took about 15 minutes and the manager really wants to hire me, but unfortunately they just changed the hiring process so next I have to interview with the "Hiring Manager" and they make the final decision. My second interview should be later this week when the hiring manager drives over from STL. Hope I get it!

Turning 23!

Yesterday was my birthday, but we've been celebrating all week! I got to open a present a night up until my birthday, it was really fun! He called at one point for ideas & ended up getting carried away and buying everything I mentioned plus a few things. Here's what I got during the week:

Kindle (Front)

Kindle (Back)

Organizer Board

Reading Pillow
(He couldn't afford to get me my reading chair yet, so he got the next best thing. haha)

Flowers & Vase

Cookies

Candies

John tried to get off work early for my actual birthday, but the night before my birthday they told him he had to come in. He did get to sleep in today though since they didn't let him off early yesterday, so that was nice. I accidentally set the alarm for 3:50am instead of 8:50am this morning. Oops. I also had the coffee set for his normal time. Oh well.  Anyway, back to my birthday. I usually get up in the morning with John and make him lunch, coffee, and get a few minutes to spend time with him. We don't get a lot of time together, so we savor the little moments. Since it was my birthday he took care of everything and let me sleep in. I got up, checked the mail, and got a wonderful card & gift from my Aunt Janine. My actual birthday was pretty lonely here by myself & the internet was out so I cleaned the house, read my book, and anxiously waited for John to get off work. When I got really bored I brought the neighbors cat over to visit. Not the best idea since I'm allergic, but I did get to watch Helga & her battle!

Also, I got a video from the amazing Autumn & Noah. I LOVE those kids!
You can watch it from the link below:

John came home and made me dinner while we watched Buffy & The Glee Project. We had bacon & cheese stuffed burgers, potato salad, and corn. Funfetti cake for desert. I opened my last gift, which was a game for my DS that I had been wanting. We spent the rest of the night watching Pan's Labyrinth and playing Mario. It turned out to be a fantastic birthday!

I had a Star Wars birthday!

Our tasty meal.

These were like heaven/ a heart attack.

Reading his wonderful birthday card. I have such an amazing husband. One of my top two love languages is Words of Affirmation, so he always goes out of his way to speak it.

Opening my present.

Super Mario Bros.

My birthday cake decorated in my favorite color!

Blowing out the candles! (I failed)

And today I received my birthday present & card from my parents. They got me an Amazon gift card which will be used for books, obviously. They also got me a super cute new apron! They got John a Stanley coffee thermos for his birthday, he loves it.

So that's about it. It was a GREAT birthday! We tried to make them extra special because he will be gone during our next birthdays. Hope you enjoyed the birthday post!
