Job Interview

I have a job interview at Blockbuster today. It's the only place that I've seen in the 9 months of visiting/ living here that I would want to work at, so I would really like the job! I'm so nervous!! I'm nervous for several reasons. The first is simply going through the interview process, which is always a little scary. The second is that if I get this job I may not move when John deploys, which opens up a whole new world of big decisions to make within a short period of time. The third is the thought that I just might not get the job. Back home I don't have one firm job, I just work at the Book Rack when needed (which is getting more and more rare), substitute teach when needed, and answer phones when needed. Staying here would provide a job that is somewhat more stable than working three occasional jobs. I realize that there's always the possibility of getting fired or that Blockbuster could go under, but nothing is permanent in this world except God & if He wants me to have this job then I will have it. My prayer today is that I either get the job and God knows what He's doing or that I don't get the job with the security that He has other plans for me!

EDIT: Job interview went super good! It only took about 15 minutes and the manager really wants to hire me, but unfortunately they just changed the hiring process so next I have to interview with the "Hiring Manager" and they make the final decision. My second interview should be later this week when the hiring manager drives over from STL. Hope I get it!

Turning 23!

Yesterday was my birthday, but we've been celebrating all week! I got to open a present a night up until my birthday, it was really fun! He called at one point for ideas & ended up getting carried away and buying everything I mentioned plus a few things. Here's what I got during the week:

Kindle (Front)

Kindle (Back)

Organizer Board

Reading Pillow
(He couldn't afford to get me my reading chair yet, so he got the next best thing. haha)

Flowers & Vase

Cookies

Candies

John tried to get off work early for my actual birthday, but the night before my birthday they told him he had to come in. He did get to sleep in today though since they didn't let him off early yesterday, so that was nice. I accidentally set the alarm for 3:50am instead of 8:50am this morning. Oops. I also had the coffee set for his normal time. Oh well.  Anyway, back to my birthday. I usually get up in the morning with John and make him lunch, coffee, and get a few minutes to spend time with him. We don't get a lot of time together, so we savor the little moments. Since it was my birthday he took care of everything and let me sleep in. I got up, checked the mail, and got a wonderful card & gift from my Aunt Janine. My actual birthday was pretty lonely here by myself & the internet was out so I cleaned the house, read my book, and anxiously waited for John to get off work. When I got really bored I brought the neighbors cat over to visit. Not the best idea since I'm allergic, but I did get to watch Helga & her battle!

Also, I got a video from the amazing Autumn & Noah. I LOVE those kids!
You can watch it from the link below:

John came home and made me dinner while we watched Buffy & The Glee Project. We had bacon & cheese stuffed burgers, potato salad, and corn. Funfetti cake for desert. I opened my last gift, which was a game for my DS that I had been wanting. We spent the rest of the night watching Pan's Labyrinth and playing Mario. It turned out to be a fantastic birthday!

I had a Star Wars birthday!

Our tasty meal.

These were like heaven/ a heart attack.

Reading his wonderful birthday card. I have such an amazing husband. One of my top two love languages is Words of Affirmation, so he always goes out of his way to speak it.

Opening my present.

Super Mario Bros.

My birthday cake decorated in my favorite color!

Blowing out the candles! (I failed)

And today I received my birthday present & card from my parents. They got me an Amazon gift card which will be used for books, obviously. They also got me a super cute new apron! They got John a Stanley coffee thermos for his birthday, he loves it.

So that's about it. It was a GREAT birthday! We tried to make them extra special because he will be gone during our next birthdays. Hope you enjoyed the birthday post!

Birthday Week Has Begun!!

John & I have birthdays that are only 10 days apart (and 4 years) so it's been an exciting month so far. John ordered me a Kindle for my birthday & was so excited to give it to me that I got to open it the day it came in the mail. I've been using it non-stop. Although I am a firm believer in never paying full price for a book, I now can't help myself. I've been good and only paid for two books so far though, but I did download a lot of free classics and lucked out by getting a book in a series I started for only .99! It's now Sunday so my birthday week has begun. Apparently I even get to open a gift tonight. Anyway, enough boring talking, here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

 Star Wars birthday theme!

Apparently John thought it was necessary to put my face on a button. :)

My Kindle!!

The view John has had of me since I got it.

First book downloaded onto the Kindle. It was FANTASTIC.

John Turns 27!

John took CQ (24 hr shift) on Sunday so that he would get off Monday morning and get to spend his birthday at home. It was great! I had everything decorated, presents ready to go, and the house was sparkling clean!

We started off with breakfast. I made his favorite kind of eggs & had him open his presents since one of them was a coffee maker. He got a coffee maker, knife sharpener, and a tomahawk. He only likes practical gifts & LOVED them all!

The tomahawk then did not leave his side for the rest of the day! This is John cooking dinner with his tomahawk & Guinness.

Helga was clearly bored & giving me attitude.

John picked his birthday dinner out & wanted to make it himself since he loves to cook. He chose corned beef, asparagus, and twice baked potatoes. It was SO YUMMY!!!

For dessert we had chocolate chip cookie bars made by yours truly, topped with mint chocolate chip ice cream. I had picked out pirate napkins & candles. John loved them!

We had such a great day. I don't think I could've made his birthday better if I had tried. SUCCESS!

John's Bday Part 1

I'm currently getting ready for John's birthday. Presents are wrapped. Now there's house cleaning to do, decorating to be done, and I am making chocolate chip cookie bars with mint chocolate chip ice cream for dessert. He's going to be 27! That's only 3 years away from 30! How did I marry someone so old!? :P He hasn't celebrated his birthday for the last 15 years or something, so I am going all out. I bought him presents, a birthday boy badge thing to wear, I got streamers, Happy Birthday banner, pirate candles, and pirate napkins. It's going to be great. I don't think anyone is ever too old for birthday parties! John is going to make himself his birthday dinner because he wants to. He's making corned beef, asparagus, and twice baked potatoes. I'm so excited! He's on CQ tonight (he has to stay overnight at work) so that he'll have tomorrow off to spend the day at home. When he gets home I will have everything ready and breakfast ready. I'm so excited!!

Then... in 10 days.. is MY birthday!

July Starts With a Bang

I got a twitter! If you have one, mine is @ABitByBritt, I don't use it tons.
Spent the last three days in Illinois working, just to see the fam and make a bit of money doing so. It went by ok, other than locking my keys in the car! I missed John & princess puppy a lot. Helga did flips she was so excited when I walked in the door! I came home to a super clean house & flowers thanks to my amazing husband so it was perfect to have some dinner and relax and not have to worry about that! (I can't relax if my house isn't clean) John's birthday presents finally came in so I am really excited to wrap them and decorate the house for his birthday on Monday. I was getting a little worried about them coming in time so it was relieving when they showed up. Today I am relaxing, enjoying princess puppy & being home. Finally working my way through Dexter Season 4 and waiting for John to get off work. I watched the last NASA take off today. It's so sad to see that program end. I also got a wedding invitation for Kyle Kortz & Hannah Burns' wedding! So happy for them! Not too much else to report. Later this month we are going on a float trip (canoeing) as a birthday gift from me to John. I've never been on one, so I am excited! I have my t-shirt, hat, and 110spf sunscreen ready to go! I'll take lots of pictures for you all. Debating about deleting my facebook again. I have a blog, goodreads, twitter, and facebook and I don't think that's necessary. It takes up a lot of my time for no good reason. Do enough of you read this to be able to do that? Let me know!

I have a story for you all. For those of you who don't know, Mother Nature hates me. Whether it's sunburns, heat exhaustion, poison ivy, storms, tornadoes, etc... She seeks me out. So of course it doesn't storm the 3 days I am in Illinois, but starts raining while I am at the gas station filling up to hit the road. I am in rain the entire drive back to MO and even sat in a thunderstorm in downtown STL. I couldn't see anything it was raining so hard. Well, if you've ever driven on 44, a lot of the interstate is simply cut out of the woods. That means that there are trees lining both sides. Right after getting through the thunderstorm in STL, I see a bunch of cops up ahead. I then found someone Mother Nature hates more than me. From what I could tell, lightning struck a tree and the tree fell on top of a car while it was driving. Therefore there were quite a few cop cars and the cops were all out on the road cutting the tree up trying to get it off the interstate. Crazy! Luckily it didn't do too much damage to the car so I'm sure no one got hurt too badly, but I was glad to know that Mother Nature has more people on her radar than just me!
